Salamat Surfing
Salamat means “thank you” in Tagalog, the primary language spoken in the Phillipines. Salamat Surfing is a collection of surf sessions photographed by Lex Santos between 2021-2023. Shot on location in the forgiving waves of Bolinas to the unforgiving waves of Ocean Beach, the journey then continues down the Pacific Coast to Santa Cruz and Santa Barbara before continuing to Baja Mexico and ending in Mainland Mexico.
Each surf session was shot with a different type of 35mm film. All surfers are riding single fins, twin fins, and other crafts besides high performance thrusters. Majority of the shots weren’t planned and made for pleasant surprises.
